Chico says to take a break .... Rabbits' Guy is "Leaving, on a jet plane .." ... for Michigan to visit some family and have a surprise party for Dear Old Dad who will be 90 soon. Be back next Wednesday which will be December 3 already! Yikes ... Bunny Lady will do fine here at the "House Of ..." but is not going to blog. So .. enjoy Chico :<)
This is the Dear Old Dad who flew out here about a year ago with a girl friend, rented a car, and proceeded to drive 2500 miles all over the West and stay here and there for a month! I have a feeling I'll be going back for more parties too! Besides that he is Democrat so plans to really enjoy the next 8 years!
Dad and Goldie hit it off real well ......

As The Princess of The House of Rabbits, I have been asked by all to ... uh ... uh ... well, er, just this once .. just this once .. got it??? ... to say .. say ... say .. oh hell - THANK YOU!

Now, get over it.

awww shucks.... Have a nice Holiday all!

... and no harm to any bunn. I guess we all are getting better at this task. I think it is like almost 200 little "snips" that have to happen, just right, in order to get all 10 bunns done.

Look at Lucky here ... nails in there somewhere. This boy looks like he is wearing big ol' Bunny Slippers!

Here is Winston. His nails are pretty visible, but he is wiggly and feisty. He finally wound up wrapped in a towel with just one foot out at a time!
They all get over the trauma so fast! So do we.
So that is the report from the Pedicure Palace ............

PALS ....

Here is Goldie with Benji .. his little botoxed wrinkles all gone!!! Now Goldie has 'em!

Enjoy it bunns .. tomorrow is nail-clipping!

Sunday, November 23, 2008

Here is a better picture of Benji .. I think. But, he does have those molt lines over his nose .. look like wrinkles.

Benji likes to be held and he begins to teeth-purr as soon as you get him. He is a compact Holland lop and a dandy bunn! Benji is Goldie's Guy!

I don't follow sports a great deal, but if you live in Washington State, your two big college football teams plus your professional football team have a combined record, this year, of 4 wins and 31 losses!

I don't think so ... just two rabbits giving me the cold shoulder again ...

But ... now if I showed up with a couple little hunks of apple .............

This is Racer ... exiting his outside big house. Neither he nor Lucky like me to see them in there having fun! These are pruned and tied raspberry canes. We live where there are hundreds of long rows of commercial raspberries. This time of year the workers first prune the bushes to just a few good canes, and then arch them over and tie the ends to the upper wire that helps to train them. In the spring they grow a good growth of new canes on top and a prolific crop of berries! Very artistic, especially to drive past the huge fields.

A field lasts maybe 4 or 5 years, then it is completely torn out, the poles and wires salvaged, and some other crop is planted ... maybe strawberries or blackberries or a hay field for cows. All organic. New raspberry fields are built pretty much by hand labor ... hundreds of poles driven into the ground, wire and irrigation tubing strung, and new shoots planted! Big, yummy business!

You can click the picture to see it much bigger.

Goldie spends a certain amount of time each day digging away at that white vinyl in her condo. She can't even scratch it, but she sure can dig and dig! Maybe someday we will put her out in a fenced-in dirt pile for awhile!

Goldie is an American Fuzzy Lop, and the only longish haired bunn we have. Her coat has been doing quite nicely now for some time. She is a real snuggler and would sit on a lap and purr away for a long time. We usually get about 10 -15 minutes a day, just before the evening oats!

If I look just right at this Rorschach on the Back of Baxter, I see a kitty or an owl. Do you?

Here is the carrot recipe ... but it is dangerous and not for the diet conscious ..

Put about 1/2 cup of sugar in a sauce pan. Add about 1 1/2 cups sliced carrots. Just cover with cold water. Let sit for a couple hours. Steam lightly. Drain and serve hot!

If you can't read it you are safe!!!!!

IT - HIC - WASHN'T ME .... WASH IT????

Well Benji me boy - somebunny emptied the box and tipped it over. And you look just a bit tipsy there too ....

This is probably one of Benji's worst photos ever. I better make it up to him ...

I am working on getting the carrot recipe from BL and into print here.

There is Racer with Winston in the next pen over. Dueling litter boxes! Once in a great while Bunny Lady moves the guys around in order to clean up better out there. So here, the two little black boys are close together for once ... I tried and tried for a better image but you know rabbits .....

About those carrots ... it turns out that BL decided they were actually quite fit for human consumption so we have had steamed carrots the past two nights and she has a method of fixing them ... yummmmmm. I think there is a bit of sugar in the water. Now don't get all anxious though and call in the bunny-police. She saved plenty for them.

THESE are what Rabbits' Guy dug out of the garden today .. the last of the crop. Sometimes that boy does surprise us ......

If we turn this upright it is over in the night. Those legs have been chewed off and repaired so many times. More Bunn-shui I guess.

I notice more blog comments during the week than on the weekends. Not just here, but with most blogs. You don't suppose people do their commenting at work do you ????

By the way .. on Nov 11 it rained like mad and blew and most all the leaves are down ... just like we predicted! Now, about the stock market ....

AW, GO AWAY .....

This one is playing the "hard to get", "I vant to be alone", card!

Anybody out there a Tom Robbins (author: Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, etc) fan? He lives, privately, around here and read at a little local event last night. In the words of Birders, a Lifer for me!

Full moon tonight ... here it is out our front windows at about 5:00 pm .. coming up right over Mt. Baker, which is about 40 miles to the NE of us. The lower hill in front is about 8 - 10 miles away.

Racer could give a whip ... I don't think Racer is a snow bunny!

About Chico ... some friends found Chico in their neighbor's back yard with a scrape on his nose. Despite all of us going door to door and putting an ad in the local paper, no one claimed him. We had room, Bunny Lady has a big soft heart, end of story! Chico is a chunky bunn ... a bit bigger than a regulation football.

Wednesday, November 12, 2008

Here is the lover-boy side of Chico. Chico was a "found" bunny so we are not sure if he is a full Lionhead or not, or for sure how old he is. We know he is lucky! Us too :<)

PS - Cary Grant. Chico will take it!

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

Somehow Chico reminds me of some movie character .. maybe if he had an old 1950's hat on .... or maybe a guy whose house just burned down and his wife ran off with a gambler.

But looks can be deceiving! Chico is the easy going type, happy, and a big lover with BL. Maybe he just did not like the pillow!

Some how the first blogiversary of the House of Rabbits slipped by - having too much fun I suppose? The very first comment we got (other than from family) was from Yoga Gal. Have not heard from her since, but that blog is still around!

Say Baxter - I suspect the grass really is greener right there in your condo. You got your water, pellets, hay, box, Zoey .... stay put, boy!

The Luckster lays possession on Savannah's best-covered pot.

It's a great spot ... plenty to see and good protection.

Unfortunately the umbrella must come down when the wind blows ... which is a lot this time of year. And that also usually means rain which means the pot hay gets wet which means yuck ... Bunny Lady tries to keep fresh and dry in there, but sometimes Mr. Weather just does not give us a break.

This is the time of year known as the "Pineapple Express" up here in the Pacific N.W.

Warm and moist air from Hawaii comes flowing in pretty regularly ... you can smell the exhaust vents on the Chinese restaurants in Honolulu!!!

It's also the time of year when we might get bad flooding .. especially if we have a cold front with snow in the mountains ... just 40 miles east ... followed by that warm, moist air full of rain ... we just missed it so far this year, but the season is not over either.

HMMMMMMM ........

I could probably have a good chew here long before RG ever gets around to reading these ...
Get away Benji .... I will get them put away and in the right priority order any day now ... any day I tell you. You are getting as bad as Bunny Lady here with your tidy-tidy-tidy hints. Besides, this way when company comes they are SOOOO impressed by our variety of taste in reading! Not to mention the casualness of our place!

The BOYZ ... Lucky and Winston. They are taking a break in Savannah's area again while Savannah is being brought in for the day. This was during a brief lull we had in the several-day rain event we are having!

Thank You Zoey for filling in so well as the Thursday Blogger! You have many fans.

BL says there once were First Raccoons, back when Presidents were real people with the same wacky habits guys like us have.

Thursday, November 6, 2008

First .... I would make a GREAT first Bunny. Doncha Think????

Second .... RG and BL had an event this evening and they are home a bit late and pretty pooped so this is it for today! There has been a lot of rain and more coming. None of us went outside today. Felt good to just flop around the condo in our PJ's .....

Maybe if you turned around Benji ....

Benji is looking over into where Racer hangs out ... except Racer is already in for the evening. Maybe Benji thinks ... wait, wait, wait, ... NO ... I WILL NOT suppose what a rabbit might be thinking ... NO NO NO ...

Late night with big rain coming .. see ya tomorrow!

Does This One look happy???? Look at the great Blogging Friends Forever award over there ... from Crafty Green Poet!

Now I must pass it on .... the rules:
1. Only five people are allowed
2. Four have to be dedicated followers of your blog
3. One has to be someone new or recently new to your blog and live in another part of the world
4. You must link back to whoever gave you the award.

Gosh .. another part of the world will be Mats at

Dedicated followers .. oh there are SOOOO many :<) .... here goes ..

The Detroit Pickler

Our neighbor over the hill

Peaches, Elvis, and Pink

Little Red Bunny Flynn

Bunny Lady is down glued to the TV. I will wait a bit .. I do think the result of the presidential election is pretty well known and I suspect a LOT of bunnies (and their slaves) are going to be happy. Being a Conservative is a lonely job these days.

Just for that I'm going to wiggle and make the picture blurry. Now, Go away ...

Sunday, November 2, 2008

Winston, trying to blame Lucky for those "gray hairs" .. but gosh, Lucky is not hard to live with! Besides, I think those are just free-floaters, from maybe Zoey, that regularly inhabit our place. We are all screwed up here .. we always wait and turn back the clocks on Sunday morning after we are up and around. Now it is dark and seems late but not by the clock ... I think the bunns are not going to tolerate waiting for salads!!! I'm going to bed early!

There is Chico sitting in a light mist. He can scoot right under that nice rain cover ... you can see how nice and dry it is. Will he? Or, won't he.

We have had a pretty dry, cool last 1/2 of October. The colors are as pretty as they ever get here .. which is not much since we have few hardwoods - mostly firs and cedars and huge maples with leaves that get orange brown. But now it is beginning to rain and Mr. weather has rain for as far as he cares to look. Usually the wind blows real good on about Nov 11 and that is when all the leaves fall! We'll let you know how that comes out.
