HAPPY NEW YEAR, BUNN AND ALL !!!!!

There is Racer with that glorious burst of brilliant brightness, ready to light our way, fearlessly and ever hopeful, onward and upward into 2009. Will you follow him?

Oh boy, the great bunny in the sky, or as Boogey says, the Ceiling Cat, must of chewed our I-net provider wires because we were down for quite some time. Talk about loose ends ... heh heh ...

I have been wondering about that DR caption with Zoey. NOWHERE in the submittal e-mail did we let on that she was in a Victoria's Secrets box. How did Non-birding Bill know? Maybe the Birdchick got something snazzy.

OK, buckle up, here we go .... Come On 2009 ....

BITTERSWEET MONDAY ....

Gosh, Zoey got her BIG day on Disapproving Rabbits ... here she is showing her undying appreciation for submitting her. Thanks for all the nice comments of support! But .. then comes the news that Hugo, from Bunnies, Needles, and Books has suddenly died. Ouch ... Hugo, and his side-kick Miss Eve, were some of the most Stuck Up Bunns of all! A hard thing to get over and we send good thoughts off to England to try to help. Every bunny here gets an extra snuggle.

WOULD YOU RATHER BE A BUNNY???

Did you say YES? Not a bad choice .... here are the little Breakfast treats ready to go to the six bunns who live in BL's study ... Goldie, Benji, Zoey, Baxter, Lucky, and Winston .... (say, speaking of Zoey ... there's a rumor out and about that she might become FAMOUS soon!)However ... NO was the correct choice in this instance BECAUSE ... this is a plate of BL's special Braised Short Ribs in Creamy Port Wine Sauce with mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. Oh .. and dolled up with a bit of egg noodles. Leftover from our Christmas dinner ... pretty good Sunday night eats .. but not for bunns !!!

And finally .. looks like poor old BL is going to be stuck in again Monday .. there still is quite a bit of snow ... these ears from a watchful bunny in the back yard are all that's out yet ... and the road up the hill to our house is still 4-wheel drive only. Maybe Tuesday!!!! She does appreciate all of your concerns, understandings and suggestions ... I did not appreciate the San Diego part.

YOU'RE IN THE JAIL HOUSE NOW - TRA LA LA

I told you once or twice, about playing cards and shooting dice ... tra la la ... When the bunns can't go outside (due, for example, to snow!) then the condos that hold pairs are a bit tricky to clean. So, BL holds one guy .. like Winston here .. and I hold the other .. Lucky in this case. Then, after some good snuggles, she puts Winnie in the little cage while she cleans and I keep holding Lucky. You know, it is impossible to tell which of them thinks they are getting the best of the deal!

It's been raining and finally above freezing ... the snow is leaving quickly but the roads are a mess. Maybe they will be OK by Monday. Poor Bunny Lady ... she does NOT drive in snow and her car has not been out of the garage for over two weeks! She is ready for some road freedom!!! Once she gets out of the driveway I may not see her for a few days! Look out Mall!!!!

IS IT SAFE OUT THERE YET ?????

Yes, Lucky. The relatives are all gone home and they took that bouncy little Chi-hua-hua barker with them. So you guys can resume your normal routines again .... you were a good bunch of bunnies while all the commotion was going on.

And, the snow is melting! A big rain is coming to take the last of it. Perhaps you bunns might get outside for a romp soon - that will be nice!

BYE, BYE, CHRISTMAS ...

We celebrated, had good times, enjoyed family and food. Some fine stories and memories were shared and new ones started! Now, that Holiday is leaving for another year, and that pesky snow too, we hope!!!!

We wish the Holiday was as good as possible for you all.

Now let's set our sights on 2009!

(Oh no - do we have too? it does not look so good ...)

What will you be doing to make
lemonade out of 2009????? ... don't need to answer now, just think about it. We'll ask the question again in a few days!

MERRY CHRISTMAS ONE AND ALL !!!!

Benji is checking his sock but Goldie is just more patient ....Racer is shining his white lite of control on Cheif Hua Hua aka Boomer who is one of the Holiday guests ..... Racer will win this one, you just know!

JUST A LITTLE GETTING READY ....

The Princess thinks about doing some sweeping ... Savannah is wanting her area redone a bit ....
.... all to be ready for Christmas eve and hopefully some celebration visitors, depending on Mr. Weather!

We plan to post a hearty Holiday Greeting Wednesday sometime, but if not, everybody have a safe and sane and Happy Christmas!!!!

VALIUM ????

No -- no drugs needed. Even Chico shows it can be done. Don't know why they sit there so well .. but nibbling would start soon if I was not fast on the shutter! Maybe it is because that is a Victoria's Secret box ???? .... don't ask. The long-awaited Christmas Picnic is cancelled!!!!!! Can't find the beer.
We had to shovel out again this morning ... pretty slow going with a garden shovel, a push broom, and one of those cheapo green plastic fan rakes! We, like FOTA who lives just over the hill, keep meaning to get one of those dandy snow shovels but heck ... it rarely snows here ....

HOLIDAY BUNNS ....

Zoey and Baxter ... just brimming over with Christmas Joy!!!!Remember this little guy? The wind blew last night, and it snowed some more. He got it.
But ... our fearless, intrepid door watcher soldiers on ....

KEEP 'EM COMING - WE ARE ALMOST EMPTY HERE ....

Lucky can really get the feed-bag on in a hurry. And he can lick the platter clean as well .. that is just pellets he is into here, but the same technique works for salad and breakfast too!

Lucky is one of those Holland Lops with longer, silky fur and is a bit bigger than normal. A real pleasant lap-full!

We are having another dose of snow ( with some good wind) tonight, so it will be interesting to see how things look in the morning. Everybody got a good lot of snuggling today, so we are hanging in there. This IS getting old though.

I'M HAPPY - GO AWAY

Goldie looks like she is half asleep in Big Bird Pajamas! Love her footsie bottoms!

Looks like a lot of you have joined us with your own winter wonderland time. Stay safe. We have another blast coming Saturday and Sunday. But the larders are stocked and the good-ship House of Rabbits will sail a steady line.

IT'S WORSE TODAY, BAXTER!!!!

Don't bother coming ... you won't make it up the hill ...
All night it snowed some more .. there is a foot and a half. The Princess does not even want to have the door opened for a little sniff ..... Our song of the day is "Boat Drinks" by Jimmy Buffet ... tra la la ... "... BL shot six holes in her freezer; I think I got cabin fever; Somebody sound the alarm ... " ... tra la la

We are essentially snowed in. The little 4-wheel drive Ford Escape can't manage much more than 8 inches and we have nearly 16. The neighbors and I spent most of the day getting our lane and driveways reasonably clear and I think we will be able to go out Friday ... but more storm coming. We are just not prepared, used to, nor desirous of this kind of weather!!!!

I LOOK BUT DON'T TOUCH ....

Don't anybunny be a'pushin' me now ... I REALLY don't want to go.

We thought Baxter would be a good test-bunny and not skedaddle under the couch. He did give the snow a good looking over, but that was it. No bunny in their right mind would want to go out there .. that is 14 1/2 inches. It will be at least Christmas before any melting happens ... this is NOT how the Pac NW is supposed to be.

ROOM SERVICE !!!!

Listen up Peeps ... in this case "Do You See What I See" is no Christmas Carol. It refers to the bottom of this bowl. Hoo boy ... yes Winston. But, for gads sake boy, keep in mind that there are 10 of you all cooped up in side because of the cold, it is going to last for another several days, and there is only so much help to go around .....

And Maxine, outside in her cozy little insulated house, says, in her best British Robert Service voice ... "It's Warm in Here and I Greatly Fear You'll Let in the Wind and the Storm..etc." There are a couple other guys tucked back in there, I'll try for a better picture tomorrow ... it is COLD out there for picture taking.
Finally .... Zoey much appreciates all the CORRECT choices for the Season view!

Monday, December 15, 2008

THE BEST IMAGE OF THE SEASON IS .....

You have three choices here, and believe me, Zoey expects you to choose properly!

A lot of the country, including us, has a wintry mess. We got down to 15 last night, and up to 25 today. Maxine and the other cats spend many hours flopped together in that nice insulated house we did. Maybe I will get a picture .... At least we all have power and heat.

Sunday, December 14, 2008

BAH HUMBUG ....

It's going to be a LONG time until Christmas. If today is any indicator ... right Goldie??? Goldie??? You there Goldie??? ... It snowed ... last night ... 7 inches. I did not get the deck-rail lights up in time. So I had to do them in all that snow and cold. They all worked when I plugged them in before stringing .. now every other section is out. Pfffhhhttttt ............ Oh those glowing yellow orbs over there? They are the lights I DID get strung down below on a yard divider before the snow .. happily shining through the 7 inch layer! Obviously Savannah is not enjoying her pots there!

But it is not all bad. This year we got a 4-wheel drive vehicle so we can get up and down the lane from the main road to our house. This snow is going to stay for at least a week and now we don't need to rely on neighbors and road-kill.
Our family Christmas this year has some charity in it. Some of you got notes about being helpful, random participants, and I hope that works out well!

HO HO HO, LOOKEE HERE ....

Hows-a-bout a little Christmas cheer early??? RG and BL just mixed and baked and decorated up a storm today since it was chilly and there was even some late afternoon snow! There were some of these decorated with a very lite-green frosting but they are all gone - that frosting had a goodly dollop of Frangelico in it! Here are The Boyz .. I dunno if they like snow or not. That is the white blobs you see. Tonight the deck has aver 1/2 inch on it .. no going out Sunday except maybe to make some snow-bunnies!

Friday, December 12, 2008

IT'S A MANDOLIN WIND ....

There is a line in this Rod Stewart tune - something about the "Coldest Winter in Almost 14 Years" ...... ... anyway, Savannah is reminding me and the BL that Sunday and Monday are going to be bitter (18 and 17 degrees) .. worst here since 1990 .. and she really does have all she needs right here in her in-the-house pen, including these nice fronds of grotto fern. I think all the bunns will stay in ....

We are thinking about Maxine and the other outside cats. We think we will move a nice kitty-house we have right near the back door, cover it wih some more blanket, and put some cozy stuff inside. Maybe the passle of them will just crash in there! More on that later ...

SOUP AND SALAD .....

Let's just start with that rascal Racer again. I found this picture still back in the November files and so here it is .. Mr. Glo-Nose and Glo-Toes! Woofed from spreading so much joy! Here is OUR dinner! BL's homemade Beef-Barley soup (used short-ribs) and Gougeres. For the Francois challenged that is a Creme-puff with Gruyere cheese instead of the sweet cream filling! Just the ticket on a chilly night. Now we have enough left for the big chill and snow a'comin'.
... and on a sad note ... this is all that is left of the nasturtium plants outside, which have been such a great source of greens every evening. Now they are wilted, half-frosted, and totally unappetizing. It will be about mid-February before there are any outside greens now.

THE PRINCESS ON THE LOOSE ...

She gets so litle time to free-roam the house and what does she so often do? Head for this little carpet and start to chew. Maybe it seems like a giant carrot. She does not just chew either. She gets ahold and pulls and pulls .. you see it bunched up.

Stop that Princess!

BAXTER

BAX is so easy going. He likes to sit on Bunny Lady's lap .. actually he just sort of melts down into a puddle with his front feet sticking out. We expect he would be quite content to stay that way for more than an hour!

It is going to get cold on the weekend .. the kind that freezes everything and than stays that way for a few days. It does not happen often here and we are not happy with it for long! I suspect we will all hole up close to the heaters and listen to music and have hot soup and read! The bunns will watch us ....

Monday, December 8, 2008

THERE IS THAT TOESY AGAIN!!!

That thing just sticks out like a glowing beacon of hope under the black of despair that sometimes swirls through the world! Racer singlehandedly combats depression and sadness by sharing his one little piece of joy with all. He is at once an inspiration and a promise!!!!

(Boy, maybe I can get a gig with the Crafty Green Poet??)

Clint Eastwood - pet rabbit - get on it sleuths .. we MUST SEE A PICTURE!

PAJAMA DAY ....

Goldie and Benji .. and all the other resident rabbits .. enjoyed a day in today. We had lots of errands and the outside deck was pretty wet and gunky from rain and no sun for a couple days. Some days they seem to really like to just hole up and not be bothered.

Everybody got out of their abode and held in the PM while the cleaning people tidyed up and refreshed the food and water! There was almost a look of appreciation on one of the bunny faces.

On my trip I saw a video of the ventriloquist Jeff Dunham. He has a guy name of Walter that would make a good rabbit! Anybody ever see this guy?

Lastly, I know lots of people personally who are now badly affected by the economic situation. I don't know anybody who claims to be helped by any of the bailouts. Maybe we live too far from much action?

THIS AND THAT ....

There is a small Rabbit show in our town every year on this day. We go to see some friends and maybe hold a bunny or two. Mostly it is hard to see all the bunnies in those little wire cages ...

However .. on the way we saw THIS! ... Mt. Rainier ... which is about 125 miles south of us and almost never visible except in really clear air. This is the first picture I've ever taken of the Mountain from here. Here is Radar ... a Netherlands Dwarf who is 6 months old. Cute little guy, but I just said NO!
We found Laura (Friend Of The Animals from Reno Rabbits) and Dave. They said NO as well. But it was hard!

Anybody else resist a bunny lately???????

BUNNY BAILOUT ????

"Hey Lucky, You see any sign of a bailout yet?" "Not here, Winnie, How about you?"

Bunnies, Bunnies .... for why do YOU need a bailout ???? Huh???

BL says those small litter boxes in the big ones keep The Princess from backing right up to the corner, as she is wont to do, and soaking the floor. Some of the other guys do have hay stuffed in between, for their snacking pleasure. It's a damn wonder they don't all have 11" flat-screen HDTVs in there.

Thursday, December 4, 2008

REARRANGEMENT ....

While I was gone, The Princess taught BL that the litter boxes were not arranged correctly. Here is the new, proper alignment. Some previous post has the old layout, complete with the resultant "pellets on the carpet" trick. I am soooo dumb.

There was a question about why we had name tags at this Birthday doo. Well, some of our family has not seen each other for over 40 years, some never. Now names, faces, and legends are all connected! There were many youngsters there as well, so it helped us remember who went with who.

Also, the old guy has a relatively new "girl" friend and many of her family members, previously unknown by us, were there. Thankfully none of the old ones were represented!

HE'S BAAAAAACKKKkkk .....

Good Old RG ... came a traipsing in at about 2:00 AM this Wed. morning. It was good to hear his voice but what a gad-awful hour ..... Bunny Lady did an outstanding job of caring for us all and everything while he was gone.... except he talks to me more.Someone asked for pictures of the trip .. so here. This is Mr. 90 with me to his left. Older sis Sue to his right and then younger bros and sis Jane. It was a surprise with lots of people and great fun ... unless you don't happen to like to fly ...The event was, and all those people live, in Traverse City, Michigan and you can look it up on the map. It snowed .. a lot. Ho Ho Ho ... they wrap their ornamental cedars in burlap else the road salt kills them. Had to change planes. to an Alaska Airlines flight, in Chicago. Was sitting at the departure gate killing a 2-hour wait when Sarah Palin boarded the flight just ready to leave for Anchorage. Nobody has been impressed yet ... can't exactly expect a bunch of bunny-lovers to be either. But, still ...
