Goldie and her brother Bluey several summers ago! BL went to "check out" this lady's place and came home with these guys - American Fuzzy Lops. Bluey had a congenital intestinal problem and lived well for a few years, but has been gone now for a couple - we still miss our Bluey!
The cup is on my computer desk, the stick-table is usually upside down in Savannah's pen, and the little chair is still around somewhere. They are pretty well chewed. Goldie has grown!

What's going on, BL?

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

Ya Winnie? What? You got any craisins over there Lucky? No, Winston, how about you? No.

So much for the State of the Union - time to protest Winston.

Racer can see the salads being made and gets so excited! As soon as BL sets his in he searches out the apple and noms away! Then he goes to the other end of the condo and stretches out to enjoy that full, contented feeling. Much later he does in the greens!

From one corner looking to the other. Lower left is BL's command-chair and computer center. She looks out a nice window over part of our yard.
Three pairs hang out here during nights and bad-weather days. From left to right: Benji and Goldie (they are there together); Baxter and Zoey - Zoey is on the step under the hole; and The Boyz - Winston and Lucky.
Being all together in one room does not bother them one whit .... although that is solid board between the left most two condos.

Spanish - acurrucarse - from yesterday.

Finally - Boogey is from Baton Rouge and is totally beside himself that the Saints are in the Super Bowl. Does anybody know a bunny from Indianapolis? We MUST make this a rivalry.

ME - GOLDIE _ I was missing up there ... also oats, treats, pooooops, a chewing stick, salad.
But not a water bowl - it is down here - and anyway Benji only uses a water bottle hanging on the side of the condo up there. There is never a blankie nor hay up their either. The hay has to be down here - if BL puts any up there we just shove it down the hole.
SOOOOooooo .... I dunno .... good tries (creative and thoughtful) but .....

Name what is missing in this picture.

"I dreamed about you last night, Lucky" "Was it a good dream Winnie?"
"Uh - not exactly, Lucky" "Probably you ate some bad cilantro, Winnie"

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

"Yeah, Winnie? What." "Uh Lucky, does something seem funny to you?" "I think maybe I ate some bad cilantro, Why?" "Oh, I was just wondering."

Heeee Heeee ...........

BUTT OUT .....

Yeah, all right Savannah, but first I want to recount a typical scene in BL's Command and Control center where there are three deluxe double-deck condos - each with a pair of you-know-whats in there.

First is Benji laying with his head under the water bottle, which randomly drips - while Goldie is eating his pellets. Then see Baxter sound asleep in a litter box while Zoey is eating HIS pellets! And then Lucky upstairs looking down the hole at Winston, who is sitting in a litter box eating hay. Sound sort of familiar?

OK - Bye ...........

It's my big chance! I can run away and join the Circus!
Uh Baxter - I don't think so. In circus years you are about 77. Besides - what about Zoey?

GEDOUDAHERE .....................

I'm - uhhh - rearranging - Savannah
Excuse us Savannah, oh precious one. We just have these useless 2-foots on a tour to admire your crocks and to learn that indeed, BL DID stand in lines to acquire them. We are leaving now .... bye.

And you have noticed - my food is gone - yes?

Baxter me boy, how can you say I won't be needing health care much longer? Here is my Dear Old Dad with Goldie a couple years ago. Now he has just recently had his 91st birthday! Fit as a fiddle.

Amazing ... knowing you RG, I had your Dad figured at about 115 - 120.

Monday, January 11, 2010

Can you give us your take on this Universal Health Care issue?

Well, let's put it this way RG ... you're lucky you won't be needing it long.

Sunday, January 10, 2010

Hey, Mister. What are you doing down there?

Well Savannah, I am turning some nice dead leaves into one of the garden beds to get ready to plant your spring greens. Can you see a bit of winter chard growing? Yes? So, be nice to me.

Whatever ....

These two of the five little bunnies went off to a new home together and here is an early 2009 picture. The top bunny was "Angelina" when little, but now is "Jaxson" (It's a BOY!) and the bottom one was "Biggy Bunn" when little and "Calypso" when big. Calypso died very suddenly in 2009 from an intestinal problem :<(

I fed Angelina (Jaxson) when she(he) was teeny-tiny - feeding all five was a real team effort - three times a day! I went to visit Jaxson the other day and he came out and let me snuggle him and pet him. Jaxson attacks all other intruders except his owner! Good Deeds do pay off!

(The other two - Walter with the stripe and E.B. White - were also adopted to nice homes but we have lost touch with them.)

Teeny is the little brown bunny. This picture was June, 2007 when they all were living in our entry way in a big box and pen ... abandoned by Mom .. rescued by Fed Ex ... taken in by Big Hearted BL. Teeny eventually got adopted and here he is in Feb. of 2008!

These are pictures we just got from Teeny's people .. Teeny isn't very Teeny is he???? Cute though!

Her Princesslyest is Eight today. She is in fine health and very active, and so we count our daily blessings. We got her when she was just eight weeks old!
Here is a funny story about this morning and the Princess that bunny folks will surely relate to.
I'm usually the first one up and so I make the Princess her breakfast - 24 little bits of whole-wheat bread topped with exactly an inch of banana cut into small bits also - on a sparkling glass platter. Always the same thing, the same way, and accepted with great enthusiasm.
About an hour later is when BL is usually up making breakfasts for the other nine rascals. Sometime during this effort she tosses another small piece of whole-wheat bread down to the Princess - her pen being right across, and below, the counter where the breakfast work happens. Then all is well.
This morning, after all the breakfasts, I decided to give the Princess some birthday pettin' before opening her little door to the outside. I got a yogurt drop for her as a little treat for putting up with my interruption of her normal daily routine. When I went to get her she was standing very wide-eyed and not looking too very pleased. But, feeble-brained as I am, I just scooped her up and sat down and got all comfy-cozy and gave her the treat. My god, I might as well have given her a pinch! She turned her nose up, turned around a few times, and would have absolutely nothing to do with that. She did like the attention though and so it was after a good 20 minutes that I went to put her back in the pen, figuring she would eat the treat then. As I reached to put her down I saw a nice chunk of whole-wheat bread sitting all by its lonesome on the kitchen counter. Lights flickered in my reptilian brain - "Did you not give this to the Princess yet?" ... "No, I thought you would when you picked her up." Ever see a rabbit snicker???
Happy Birthday Princess - I see I can still learn new tricks.
