GOLDIE ...

Coat is slowly coming back from the horrid molt and clipping. Still a ways to go. She is a cuddle-bum just the same!

There may have been a bit of extra wave action up here from the Tsunami, but not enough to take a picture of. It came right about high tide, which could have been bad had it been big.

THE BOYZ ...

Bow, WA. Tsunami News(8am pst Sat): Our area is under a Tsunami Advisory with any effects (which are expected to be very minor) due in the early afternoon.

What CAN they be thinking?
I worked at a "Youth Earth Summit" today ... about 120 kids from local high-school Environmental Clubs put on a big event to share ideas and learn about some future near-term career avenues they might explore.
... probably don't want to write off this generation quite yet!
(PS: The event was held at the local Junior College and they have a Culinary Arts curriculum there. Those students will soon be making BIG Bucks from their Cinnamon Rolls!!!)

A BIT 'O GREEN .....

Baxter is just finishing the end of a dandelion green. The edge of his deck there is about 5 feet off the ground and I sometimes gather a few greens and go stand down there. I poke them under/through that mesh between the posts and whisper: "Baxter. Baaaxterrr. Come on Bax - here are some treats." Pretty soon his nose twitches, he looks my way, and then shambles over and enjoys his treats. His pal Zoey looks and watches, but she never comes over to investigate. Bax clearly hears what he wants to hear!!!

They all go back to Wrangle Island in the summer.

"WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE TIGER APOLOGY, CHICO?"

"Weak, Savannah. Weak."
"How so?" "No Treats: Craisins, Apple Bits, Nutter-Butters; that sort of stuff."
"Right On, Chico. Man just does not seem to get it."

* Opinions expressed on this post are strictly those of the rabbits and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of those paying the bills, etc...

ANOTHER BIRD WEDNESDAY ...

OK everybody - now listen up. Here comes the Birdchick with all that camera gear. It's our big chance to make the cover of The Birding Gazette. We lift off at the count of five and then zig down and left on the even counts and up and right on the odd ones. Got It? Orville? Orville? Orville!!!! ... "wha .. oh ya - I got it - chill, Wilbur." These are some of the thousands of Dunlins that winter here in the field puddles near the tide-flats of Samish Bay. What a racket they make, just standing there, poking around!

SAY, BAXTER MY SWEET?

"What is it Zoey my pet?"
"Uh, Bax? You would never run off to sail the seven seas - would you?"
"I've given it a thought or two, now and again, but - no Zoey - my place is here with you."

Smart man, Bax!!!!

The BMW-Oracle America's Cup racer - up one-zero in the best-of-three series off of Spain. The boat was built here in Anacortes, under extreme secrecy, and is HUGE. It was an awesome sight in its sea trials. In the upper left - that is the helmsman!!

But that boat is to sailing what Bugs Bunny is to a House Rabbit!

THIS is SAILING! Youngest daughter and her beloved 22 foot Aeolus.

I COULD BE AN EAGLE !!!!

You just hang on and look over the edge for stuff ..... Lucky. It's the Winter Olympics! Anybody remember Eddie the Eagle???

Bald Eagles are very common here. There is lots of territory, food, and there are high perches. Before long they may become a nuisance, iconic as they are. Did you know that when a dead eagle is found its remains are sent to the National Eagle Repository, in Denver, where they are made available to native Americans?

NO-BUNNS WEDNESDAY ....

"Say Jake?"
"Yeah Rocky? What?"
"I don't think this standing by the road waiting for a handout is going to work - I'm getting bored Jake."
"Me too Rocky - let's go fishing!"
Seen in a field this morning!

GATHER 'ROUND EVERY-BUNNY .....

I, Zoey have some important announcements: Listen up!In Merry Old England live many bunnies. One is Cedric, a friend of ours. Cedric has a blog and it is Dandy's Journal. Cedric is Deputy Pry-minister of all of Lagamorphia - says he - and his mate Millie is Pry-minister. Cedric has bestowed honorable titles and responsibilities upon at least two bunnies here in the far Colonies (hee heee.) One is me and I am the Right Honorable Zoey, Ambassador to the Pacific Northwest Underdeveloped Regions. The other is Boogey and he is the Right Honorable Boogey Enrique Gallagher, Minister for Overseas Development. Boogey lives in Baton Rouge, thus the "Enrique", and mainly whines about LSU football and crows about Saints football.
Cedric also has a friend, Master-Dandy, who is the head of the LIA (Lagamorph Intelligence Agency) and Master-Dandy can appoint deserving Agents. Turns out Boogey is agent 0057. Recently I, Zoey, have been appointed agent 0090. I will be reporting on my LIA missions from time to time. Just thought you should know!
Cedric and a bunch of others get their people together now and then to produce songs about Rabbits and then other people can have a cd or dvd of the songs by making a donation to the rabbit charity of their choice. Some new ones are out, including Live-Hay'd '08, a must have!
SO - HOP over to Bunny Tunes and get shopping!
Thank you for your attention - as you were. .... Zoey

SOMEBODY CALL THE COPS .....

"Report this woman to animal cruelty - for gosh sakes it's just a teeny scratch. I don't need this humiliation." ..... Lucky Yes .. it is teeny .. but it was on the bottom of your foot and bleeding a bit ... now you are all better.

Here are the clippers we used on Goldie ... even these power tools have a hard time with her fur. Soon she'll be ready for prime time again!

RG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ................................ How COULD you???? Goldie has been having an awful molt. She had a lot of matting and then the whole mat sections came off, leaving bare skin. We have trimmed with clippers and scissors and brushed and combed. At last she is growing in. She looks pretty bad.
Sorry Goldie - this is an instructional blog and you will receive royalties as they come in.
