THE RUSTIC LOOK

"I like the rustic look and I DON'T want it painted."  -  The Princess the Firm.

Turns out there's 240 of these little posts.  104 done so far.  What a job.  BL does the front and the sides - I do the back and the hidden places from a ladder.  Nice team work.  (Racer, Benji, Goldie, and The Princess have enjoyed watching - and sleeping.)

INSIDE-OUTSIDE

"There is some bunny logic involved here, but it plumb eludes me - like the jitterbug." -  RG the Mystified.
We are painting outside - a HUGE job.  Starting with the top rail and the deck posts - there are about 200 of them!  Try to do some every day.

"I'VE PICKED THE WINNER!

... and now I am soooo exhausted.  The lucky Garlic Braid winner is - Ta Da -
CHRISTINA!"
Benji the Happy.
We put all the names on little slips in a big coffee cup for BL to draw three.  She could not get ahold of them down in there so we put them in a cereal bowl and that worked fine.  Then I held the three and she picked one.  All very scientific!

Can send an address to pgypsy at wavecable.com or we can send to the Heartland Rescue PO Box.

Thanks everybody for playing along.

WHO ATE THE COBBLER? ...

Who ate the pie?

"Not I" - said the little agouti bunny.
(Peaches came all at once - and pretty mushy.  So a frenzy of peach stuff.  Some chopped up in the freezer too.  More fruit in that cobbler than it looks.  Might tasty.)

"A BED OF ROSES ...

... would have been more like it!"
The Princess, Miffed.

We live in the upper left, right between Mt. Vernon and Anacortes.  We usually have a good sea breeze from the west to keep us cool.  The Cascade Mountains are very high (10,000 feet) and go north and south about 50 - 60 miles inland from us.  You can see Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, Mt Adams, Mt. Baker, and Glacier Peak.  Cle Elum, where the big fire is, is east of the mountains - right about where the Y in Yakima River is.  It is usually very warm over there in the summer.  Irrigation water from the Columbia River makes for outstanding crops of fruits and wheat.  Sometimes, like now, the air pressures are such that the prevailing winds come from the east, instead of the west.  Then, as the air falls down over the west side of the Cascades, toward us, it warms a lot and we get cooked.  80's here for 3 days - maybe close to 100 down in Portland where they are much farther from the sea.
("There will be a test in three days time." -  RG the Perfesser.)

"WE HAVE A WINNER! ...

... it's Karen!  (Chico's toesys, BL's pie, and RG's cobbler) ... good work everyone else though!"  Racer - the Cutest!"
"Funny story .. we were checking out of Costco the other day.  (Costco is a discount warehouse store if you don't have one.  Another of those odd Seattle-area get-rich inventions!)  Nicely dressed older gent in front of us with a cartful of stuff including a nice big bottle of Jack Daniels!  (Washington just passed a law to allow private stores, instead of state stores, to sell liquor.)  All of a sudden he started putting his stuff from the conveyor belt back in his cart but the clerk stopped him and they conversed and pointed and waved their arms and I heard the clerk say "Nathan can just go grab that for you" so checkout proceeded.  Right now Nathan comes back with a 42" flat-screen TV in the box over his shoulder and adds it to the checkout and that was that!  Maybe he was headed to an Olympic watch-and-drink party and it was BYO ....!
Remember when you got YOUR first TV?  Hoo boy ....

Finally some pretty, short, full, long-lasting daises for your weekend enjoyment.  We are going to get hot for a couple days."
RG the Reporter ....

"Me either!  I'm a Red Admiral.  It's my cousin you are looking for."
"We have few butterfly types in Western Washington and I do not know them well either.  Am I right on this one?"  -  RG the Scientist
