A SLIGHT DISTRACTION ....

Number one Grand-daughter came up for a visit before heading off to College - Yr 1!We went to Guemes Island and walked the beaches and hiked the hills ...
always a favorite.

Found a nice collection of agates ...
Came back for some great Bunny Lady dinner and CLUE! - our traditional game. (Doggone that Miss Scarlett - I was SURE it was her.)

On the way taking her back I stopped at the Frank Wagner Elementary School in Monroe, Washington.

Thousands of Vaux Swifts spend the night in the chimney - it's their annual south-bound migration - and the folks sure come to watch! Most everyone wore this hat!

This is last year's count ...

I was too early and could not stay .. there is the famous chimney and to the left a guy in a Swift Suit! It's a pretty big deal ....

The Boyz ... not impressed. Not impressed at all ....

Maybe the bunnies are simply miffed that the swifts don't visit THEM.

I should say not.. being stuck down at the bottom of the blog! After some BIRDS no less! Mom thinks it's cool that they all stop at the chimney, but I have to say that the bunnies here are also not impressed. We remain, as always, ambivalent. Until there are treats.

A grandchild going off to college.

Swifts migrating.

For now - High school English teacher!

Bunns - moving boxes around - usually in the middle of the night!

Yes - a good weekend, and, we did not really expect to find agates because the summer crowds pick them over really well - but - a late Labor day windstorm churned things up pretty good!

1. The Bunnz say if you are seeking out who chewed all the clue cards, it wasn't them.
2. It's never Mrs. White because Betty White is America's Sweetheart and you don't get that title by killing people in the study with a lead pipe.

Oh, agates, lovely! We have a school in Portland where thousands of swifts swirl and roost each night. What is it about those chimneys?!

Lovely pics - and wow for agates! But Winston's disapproval is burning a black hole on my screen...certainly being at the bottom of the post doesn't help (say Miss Eve, and Neville agrees).

That is some serious bunnah disapproval at the end there! BTW, your sock bunny is going to be a custom job which I hope to get done real soon (turns out you can take knitting needles on airplanes! Didn't know so didn't take it on vacation!).
