"A BED OF ROSES ...

... would have been more like it!"
The Princess, Miffed.

We live in the upper left, right between Mt. Vernon and Anacortes.  We usually have a good sea breeze from the west to keep us cool.  The Cascade Mountains are very high (10,000 feet) and go north and south about 50 - 60 miles inland from us.  You can see Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, Mt Adams, Mt. Baker, and Glacier Peak.  Cle Elum, where the big fire is, is east of the mountains - right about where the Y in Yakima River is.  It is usually very warm over there in the summer.  Irrigation water from the Columbia River makes for outstanding crops of fruits and wheat.  Sometimes, like now, the air pressures are such that the prevailing winds come from the east, instead of the west.  Then, as the air falls down over the west side of the Cascades, toward us, it warms a lot and we get cooked.  80's here for 3 days - maybe close to 100 down in Portland where they are much farther from the sea.

But Princess, roses are prickly things, you don't want to be lying on them. You are perfectly lovely without, and those flowers compliment your beauty quite nicely.

Princess, perhaps your Royal Highness should simply be grateful for the quiet dignity and restraint of the royal photographer. This is a lovely composition, and quite frankly, if we see anymore bunny tail and blankies, we out here in your realm will run amok. We swoon at your royal bunny tail peeping from under the blankie. Whichever variety of hoomin finds us (friend, family, neighbor, postman) screams. It is particularly difficult for those who don't have bunnies and are not acquainted with "pancaking." You know that's when the buns jump up, flop down and look dead and you walk in and scream.

Our prayers go out for all who are facing fire and drought.

The blue looks really nice next to your silver gray coat, Princess! I believe I would like to live near Seattle. I watched a show on television about the lovely house boats there. Very nice!
