"IT'S A HARD RAIN. ...

... My ears are ringing from the pounding of the drops.  I hope the help gets the clean-up and food freshening done early today."  -  Hiding-out Princess.

"By golly, we did!"  -  RG the Snappy.

Is this really your first rain in a long time or did I miss some?

Princess, Brandi's quoting Keats so I have to go with the Arab poets: If you can count a man's faults (as opposed to not being able to count them because he has too many) he has done enough to be called noble. Think of the "help" that way.

80 days straight with but a dribble a couple of times - until October 10. The Pacific NW is usually pretty dry in the summer, but this has been extremely unusual. Lots of serious forest fires.

Princess, enjoy the rainy air while you are out there, for me! :)

RG, I had had no idea that it was ever dry up there until you mentioned it here, and now I know about dry summers being the norm, another surprise. The fires unfortunately made the news, but I heard no mention of dry weather. They could have been started by lighting from ran clouds for all we knew. The reality of these fires is so terrible, not the inevitability or the necessity, we all hear about that, but the individual event itself. The Bastrop fires here were terrible, wrenching events. I know you all have one and constantly revise it, but a real, exquisitely executable evacuation strategy is so important, but people there also found that an instant comes when you have to forget that, throw paper bags with bunns in them in the car and DRIVE. Heaven forbid your experiencing such a thing. Congratulations on the rain and hopefully years and years of more seasonable weather to follow.

Rain is awesome. I love rain. Warm, cold, icy, misty, pounding, drizzling, stinging, freezing, slushy, abundant rain. I love dark dark clouds and high winds from the Great White North.
I love snow. I love the cold. I love bare trees and crunchy brown leaves rustling about on the ground.
My pecans are ALMOST ready...still a bit wet in the shell and too soft, but almost. MMMM, pecan cranberry jello salad...roasted cinnamon pecans, buttery toffee pecans, crushed pecan streusel topping on sweet potato casserole...

Princess, I will warm you by the oven and share my yummy pecans with you, never to make you wait out in the rain for a second!

All is forgiven. Can I come, too?

Verification Word: oddloca, no kidding...

We've had rain here for months. Now we have lots of bugs that apparently want to live in my house. Ick, gag, puke.
