"SOMETHING GOOD THIS WAY COMES!

...  I can just tell!"  -  Racer Convinced

"Well the little rascal.  Look at that.  Garden fresh and there is chard, kale, nasturtium leaves, clover heads and dandelion greens down under to boot!"  -  RG the Forager.

With the bounty of spring through autumn, and especially throughout the summer months when growing season is at it's nomilicious peak, there is NO REASON to BUY produce AT ALL.
Forage. Harvest. From fiddleheads in the forest to dandelions in the yard, to clover patches and fields of grasses, and the succulent treasures of the desert, and garden patches from coast to coast, there is always something green and fresh for our herbivorous masters to enjoy.
Actually, what they enjoy is our labor in the hot sun, but you know, their approval is worth a few bug bites and sunburned faces.
And isn't it so much more satisfying to give them something we picked fresh instead of some bunch of greens that MIGHT get recalled for E.coli contamination and has been touched by machines and a few dozen filthy hands?

.. and the dirty fingernails, grass stains on the good pants, slugs, bramble-scratches, nettle itch ...

RG, I think you left out the part about "enormous satisfaction," and "being and being an inspiration" to us all. That salad looks so good.

quitchyerbitchin, RG.
*You ARE an inspiration to us all.
*Dirty fingernails get clean. Soap is cheap.
*Wear your old pants for gardening. Or wear shorts. I bet your legs are just ghostly winter pale. Catch some rays, dude.
*Salt + slugs = ewwy show. It appeals to the child in us all to watch that mess.
*I refuse to believe you have brambles in your yard. I want pictures for proof.
*Nettle makes for a fantastic tea.

Amazing how you can grow such lovely things. My darn ivy plant is having issues this year. I suck.
