Glenna said...: What?! You have frogs? (From Elvis). We found a dead snake in Elvis/Elizabeth's enclosure. Not large, and not poisonous (there are both copperheads and more rarely, water moccasins here which we believe come up through the sump crock into the basement). Auntie Jane (It is official!) said...: Glenna, The one with the most Ancient Egyptian Cat blood. The AEs had a problem - protecting their grain. Snakes would prey on mice, rats, and birds, cats preyed on mice, rats, birds, and poisonous snakes. Although, a variety of birds and the sacred cobra remained conspicuously present in AE iconography - the vulture, because they were considered the best of mothers, the cobra, because of a lot of reasons - the kitty cat had won the day and would be forever protected and cherished in the land.; October 26, 2013 at 5:07 AM
