NOOOOOO!!!!! You leave that little mousie alone, KB! You stick to your kibble and nevermind the fresh meat. Defy your instincts! Be not true to your assassin nature!
In a laboratory I used to work in, there lived a little bitty mouse. He got fat living on creamer and sugar packets and pats of butter and whatever little treat he could find around the microwave and frig in the breakroom. No one had the heart to trap or kill him. And he would have been easy to catch, he was so dang fat. He did not live very long, but what a hedonistic little life he enjoyed!
Now, KB, you listen to Brandi. RG, we need you to crumple up a sheet of paper, tie a string around it, AND play with your cat. He will thank you later as he looks out the door and wonders.

Nothing like the persistence of a hunting cat--until dinnertime.

I'd heard that mice were so scared of cats that just the scent of one can be enough to keep them away....
CGP, really? That is amazing. What a neat glimpse into the experience of our little furry brethren. Thanks.
