TALKIN' APPLES

"Here is what is (was - they are all in the compost pile now) left of the apples from our trees.  Folks asked about maybe making cider or apple sauce with the better ones.  But look - Washington is the Apple Capital of the World for gosh sakes.  Our stores are awash with them - pretty good and not bad prices.  Plus we get to try some other kinds for awhile!"  RG - the Buy Local Guy!
"I like apples.  Do you like my white nosy and tosies?  Of course you do!  That is why I am who I am!"  -  Racer the Cute

RG, you reminded me that my mother used to tell that if we always ate the apples that were about to go bad to keep from wasting them, we would never eat a really good apple. She wasn't talking about apples. We have a great joke around here about a farm hand who worked so hard everyday the farmer wanted to give him an easy job. In our case the farmer asked him to go through some barrels of potatoes but apples would work as well. He was asked to keep the good ones and toss the bad ones. In about 15 minutes the farm hand storms out of the barn and says he quits. The farmer asked him why and he answered, "Boss, these decisions are killing me."

That is a lot of apples. Makes me want a nice crispy Pink Lady apple.
Fun April Fools Day chuckle for Racer and Winnie - Paint a white nose on one and cover up the white nose on the other.

Lots of apples there! Every year we get loads of apples from Crafty green Hoyfriend's parents, they grow the best eating apples and the best cooking apples

Lovely photo of Racer and i like Brandi's idea of an April Fool chuckle

I had a backyard once, in Plano, Texas, that would grow anything. There was a huge apple tree that produced so many apples, if I didn't take a few off each branch, the branches would have all broken each season! The Lady who lived across the back alley from me grew vegetables, and we exchanged fruit and vegetables all season. Funny how we were friends for years and never had a conversation. She spoke only Spanish, and I spoke only English. Spoken words are less important, I guess than actions. Anyway, Racer's nosy and toesies are THE MOST IMPORTANT things in this post!!! And, what cute nosy and toesies they are! XXOO

Ohhhh....we had a rotten (no pun intended) apple year here in Michigan due to some bizarrely warm early weather and the inevitable freeze afterward last spring. Apples are hard to come by here and my sheep would have been happy to take those off your hands! :)

Racer definitely is a cutie.

Racer, you are just the cutest.

My cousin used to make cider out of the leftover apples that weren't worth eating. Thanks for the memories.

My favorite, Racer! Wow! That is a lot of apples. Growing up in Hawaii there were guava trees, bananas, pineapple, tangerines, papaya and mango from relatives' yards but no apples! You need a couple of horses to help you with those. One bite... GONE!
