Mick says hay needs to be thoroughly sorted through so that the good stuff may be picked out and promptly eaten, and the rest makes for a nice cushion.
It's good for them to forage. Keeps em from being too bored.

RG, it is such an eye in the bunholder thing that claims of deviousness can hardly be credited.
