This is Racer ... exiting his outside big house. Neither he nor Lucky like me to see them in there having fun! These are pruned and tied raspberry canes. We live where there are hundreds of long rows of commercial raspberries. This time of year the workers first prune the bushes to just a few good canes, and then arch them over and tie the ends to the upper wire that helps to train them. In the spring they grow a good growth of new canes on top and a prolific crop of berries! Very artistic, especially to drive past the huge fields.
A field lasts maybe 4 or 5 years, then it is completely torn out, the poles and wires salvaged, and some other crop is planted ... maybe strawberries or blackberries or a hay field for cows. All organic. New raspberry fields are built pretty much by hand labor ... hundreds of poles driven into the ground, wire and irrigation tubing strung, and new shoots planted! Big, yummy business!

hay field for cows? when oh when are people going to plant hay fields for bunnies?
nice action shot, racer! props to the photog!
That raspberry pic is most impressive.
We used to have lots of strawberry and raspberry fields here, but they've mostly been sold off for housing developments. (Deb used to pick berries in the summer when she was a kid -- it was the thing to do back then!)
