See! Goldie is part of the box caper too! Every evening we set this thing upright and tuck it under the rain shield in case it rains. Then these guys go out in the AM and by evening this is the scene again! Tipped over and way out in the pen, exposed to the elements. Go figure ....

What's your Halloween plans???? We live out away from town, so no visitors except the neighbor boy who always comes dressed up with his Dad dressed up too ... last year - Pirates. Bunny Lady makes him a nice goodie-bag and we take pictures and ooohhh and ahhhh. He always saves me a Snickers or two from his adventures!!!! This year he has a little brother to bring too ... hey! Maybe I'll get even MORE Snickers!!!!

Some years we have a big family gathering and carve "designer" pumpkins and eat and goof off a lot. Probably not this year .. everyone busy with stuff. I'll try to stick on a picture of the past year's works of art .. they are quite something!

NAhhh .... not to worry. Benji just lives in the box, he did not slosh his way through the contents!

What's new .... Racer did not make DR today .. you already knew that. Oh .. Gus and Betsy are back in Sweden for high adventure on Sticky Buns!

Half-Baked Bunn .....

This was just a hurried shot out the quickly opened deck door. But look ... she has managed to perfectly keep the sun off the big black blotches .... or maybe she is just bleaching out in the sun!

Savannah is such a great and easy going bun. She and Bunny Lady spend a lot of time on the floor by the door of her inside pen.

RACER DOES NOT LIKE THIS ....

Gotta check to make sure he is nice and clean and the nails are not too long, but he does not like it! Sooooo ... take a good look at the white nose and white back toes because you may not see them all in one picture again for awhile!!!!


By the way people .... I really don't think you are going to see a picture of the 10 happy hoppers here all together ... it would be mayhem or worse. Maybe via Photoshop but not in real life ...

Here is Chico doing his Troll-house routine!!!! He loves this little place outside. He barely fits, but it is lined with straw and hay and is underneath a big rain shield and he can see quite a bit of action.

Someone ... maybe Glenna ... suggested that I line all 10 bunnies up on the couch and read them a story ... can you imagine? ..

... "Quit pushing, Racer!" .. "I call Red Pillow!" .. "RG! Baxter is over on my part!" .. "Ew ... I don't want to sit next to her" .. "Wait, I have to go potty" .. Here is a mystery bun bumm - Guesses ?????

Yes, Baxter the Mini Lop is bigger than Benji the Holland, and a Holland seems to have what you might call more "Dainty" features .. Benji has little pantaloons on his front legs! I think Minis are usually more easy going. Racer and Winston and Lucky are also Hollands, and so was Stanley.

IT'S STILL SUNDAY HERE ...

Kind of looks like maybe there is a mirror in there! Nope ... this is just an extremely rare situation here.

That is Baxter to your left, and then Benji on the right. Benji and Goldie were in here just for this once because Bunny Lady was cleaning their condo and it was raining hard. This area, along with the one Baxter (and Zoey, who is out of sight) are in, is under a big tarp and safe and dry!

Baxter is a Mini and Benji a Holland.

Tomorrow we will try to post one of those "'tocks" pictures for DivaKitty et. al. for some weird cat's birthday surprise!

Isn't this pathetic???? What if the Rabbit Police see this kind of treatment? (What if Bunny Lady sees it!!!) They should send me back to "bunny basics." Maybe I'll just quit looking over the edge here.

SPUDS .....

'Em's 'Taters ..... We have five nice raised beds at the House of Rabbits and also a big old compost pile out back to grow stuff in. Almost 75% of the space goes for bunny foods. But .... we always take two of the beds and plant potatoes ... Reds in one and Yukon Golds in the other. Rotate the beds around each year.

Here are a few of the Yukons I harvested this evening. My they are good right out of the garden. All in all we will probably harvest enough to keep us going until about mid-April. We store them in boxes in our old hobby-barn and if it gets really really cold for several days (rare) we bring them in until it warms up.

Remind me to post, tomorrow, the latest picture of The Princess in her endless mission to shape me up. It will break your heart.

Oh yes, Baxter has it right! Zoey has submitted her picture to Boogey Bunny (of WascallyWabbit) and is going to be big in advertising!!!! Gosh though, I hope SHE doesn't take a hankering for the big city lights.

SUNN BUNN !!!

Baxter is kind of like a cat .... ... he has found a nice sunny spot to spend an hour or so on a pretty fall afternoon.

I missed the last debate ... off at a class about the geology of our area ... let's see; ice-age glaciers, earthquakes, volcanoes, mud-flows, floods, and tsunamis ... I think that was it. Gosh and here I was worried about the price of gas!

WELL, YOU ASKED FOR IT ....

The recipe for Death By Chocolate is over to the left under "Websites." I want full reports about how it went, and I don't want to read them in the obituaries - so go lightly!Now as to this mournful look. I peeked over the sink this early AM and here she is ... nearly to the bottom of the pellets, no oats, in need of a treat, and certainly the cleaning people are over due. Somehow she made it this way through the entire day until relief came about 5:00PM.

Next thing I know she'll be on a southbound to the Bay Area or else heading out overseas. Then what will I do ????

Fortunately a yogurt drop and a nose-rub and some pettin' and I'm back in her good graces. Thank you Princess.

IT WASN'T AT ALL BAD .....

See? Benji got some special treatment from our company! He is very happy and purring up a storm here!

But gosh ... Racer got two invites ... one to Scotland and one to Malaysia. People ... Racer is NOT going anywhere. He is actually quite content as well. He was just a bit tired from all the action. You can't have him. He is ours!!! Our little Racer-guy!

It's Columbus Day ... the day we bring in the wind chimes until Mother's Day. It is the windy season for that long!!! Sometimes we have some doozeys.

THEY'RE GONE !!!!

Well .... that was some group ... four young 2-foots and their mama. They are nice but golly they all go back and forth past my condo all morning and evening and I don't get much holding and petting from Bunny lady on my way out to and back in from my outside "bowling alley!"

So my little neck is tired from turning back and forth to watch all the action and I'm grouchy from not enough luvin' ... I'm even too woofed to hop out this open door of my condo! I can't wait for Munday Bunday and things back to normal!!!! Yur Reporter RACER .....

OK OK .. yup it was hectic. But we did find all eight of the letterboxes we hunted for and they were all in dandy places .. we saw an oyster and clam farm and big salmon coming up the stream to spawn. There is even some Death By Chocolate left but it won't last until any of you get here so don't even bother! And .... the bunns get lots of attention tomorrow for sure.

Oh but that Death By Chocolate was good ... we ate it at about 7:45 Saturday evening after a successful day finding four letterboxes! We are after four more on Sunday.

Savannah does notice that her dessert bowl is empty.

Yes it was delicious, but it's good not to have that stuff often!!!

BUDDY BUNNYS

The "BOYZ", Lucky and Winston are quite the buddies. Pals to the end.

Letterboxing is where you hide a little weather-proof box with (at least) a rubber stamp and notebook in it. You put the clue for finding it somewhere. Searchers ("Questors") have their own rubber stamp and notebook. When ever they find a letterbox, they record the box stamp in their notebook and their stamp (and a comment) in the box notebook.

Some letterboxes are hidden in special places and have information about that place in them. Serious Letterbox Questors design and carve their own stamps, which can be real works of art!

http://www.atlasquest.com/ is a good site to find letterbox clues. Enter your local zip code and you'll find clues for all the letterboxes near you (that have been posted on Atlasquest .. and lots have.)

If you enter zip 98232, you'll find several boxes on the 2008 Skagit Watershed Letterbox Trail ... those are the ones we are after this weekend!

Maxine .... our outside cat. Max stands door duty sometimes - well, lays door duty!

Max is pretty old and has her ups and downs, especially when we have these back and forth weather changes that happen so much this time of year. Sort of like me.

We're in for several days of nice weather, although cool. Some relatives are coming and we are going Letterboxing! Anybody a Letterboxer out there?

Pretty much another yawner for bunnies but a bit more exciting for us humans.

Quite a few nasturtium leaves and a nasturtium flower in there. They grow well here, and will do so until the first frost, which could be well into November ....

DEBATE REPORT .....

First, you see Benji and Goldie have differing views! Such it is here at the House of Rabbits!

Second, we invited a friend from down the street to watch with us, and Bunny lady had a grand pasta and salad and french bread dinner with brownies for dessert! Very nice :<) Without telegraphing any political leaning one way or the other, let us say we all were surprised at how well the lady from "main street" did, considering the predictions and stories leading up to it. Me and the friend were both about bored to tears by about 45 minutes though .... plus I kept thinking Biden was the Republican and Pahlin was the Democrat!

The Bunns were thumbs down universally. Not a darn thing in it for them.

I have more Sticky Buns photos of Freckles and of Saved Dave ... I'll get those up Friday evening.

PS - you guys keep up this incessant drum beating for Baxter to take over the blog and you just might be sorry for getting your wish ....

I HEARD ABOUT THE GREAT DEBATE ....

Lucky is rechecking his ballot and reports that neither candidate had a single stick of their platform that represented advancement for Rabbits. McCain seems like a dog guy and OBama a cat person. At least they are both against ear marks ... so are we. Benson had one because he was a show bunny and loser show bunnies have a sad fate.

That was a pile of Goldie's fur that came out in yesterdays grooming session. Just the way it balled up and sat in that pile makes it look kinda like Goldie .. maybe! Spinning and knitting are not particularly up Bunny Lady's alley, so we don't collect the fur ... but it sure collects on everything around here. Our house is all set for Halloween!

The toes belonged to Winston! It was not really fair. You can't tell them apart unless you see the white on Racer's nose or back toes.

Really folks ... here are a bunch of Brits gathered in a pleasant field on a beautiful day, playing and singing (mostly) recognizable tunes turned into bunny lyrics. A courageous lot. You buy it for whatever you want to pay ($15 or more) and all that money goes to whatever Bunny Rescue site you want it to go to. A tax write off as well. Tell 'em Zoey and Boogey sent ya!

Winston is doing some renovation work ... I notice that these bunnies seem to continually remodel until the whole thing collapses ... then they keep right on chewing anyway. Fortunately Bunny Lady feels fresh boxes are a must, so we keep every bunn in good practice.

I have this "back" list of bunny blogs I look at from time to time, but most are quite dormant or sporadic or sometimes rather strange. THE GOOD RABBIT .....

Savannah has spent many, many nights and parts of days ... sometimes all day ... in her inside pen with this nice wooden windowsill. She has made but two tiny nibbles on it. In the meantime she has demolished untold cardboard boxes and debarked hundreds of twigs and apple sticks. Eaten several of those Pier 1 willow balls and several legs, including replacements, from a little stick table.

S-bob is Bunny Lady's Bunny. The two can snuggle and cuddle lots. I just talk to her a bit ... "Hi Savannah. Savannnnnaaaahhhh. You are a pretty bunny Savannah." That's it. She looks at me.

THE CALM OF THE EYE ......

However, as you can plainly see, Disapproval radiates for miles and miles from the Eye of Hurricane Baxter !!!


NAH .. just kidding ..... Baxter is the softest, cuddliest, laid-back bunny of The House! If he disapproves, he is very subtle about it. Not like Winston, who actually "Bit the hand that feeds him" this evening. When Winnie and Lucky come in from outside to go back in their condo, I do the Luckster and BL does Winnie. I think that is about to change!

This morning I took a look at Disapproving Rabbits and sort of rapidly scrolled down through about 5 posts .. the pictures. What a horrid start to a day ... rapid fire, unrelenting disapproval!

IT'S SURE NOT STARBUCKS ......

I thought I ordered a double yogurt, banana topped, triple thick, craisin whirred, pineapple whiz with a nasturtium blossom - oh, and a parasol.

All there is, is this naked bean-dipped dishwater without even a diaper. Must be RG's ....... at least it is hot. "Spina" ... anybody know what that means?

This may be the weekend to break the ice on Sticky Bunns ... which is the name of the caper .. by almost unanimous vote! I think Baxter and/or Zoey might get stuck-up somewhere! Stay tuned and for gosh sakes, get your bunnies out there!

Savannah has a great spot to sit out the rainy dribble here ... but now, we have had a week or more of really nice weather, with a week more to come! Finally ......
