Yup ... the end of 2009 - a year that will go down as one of the most unhappy ever for many, many people all over the world.

We here at the House of Rabbits do resolve to continue into 2010 bringing smiles, chuckles, wise tidbits of bunny logic and knowledge, and bumbling 2-foots for all who care to partake!

A neighbor pruned his apple tree and gave us the branches a few days ago. Obviously a success I am! (One more day ... come ON BL - don't fail me.)

OK - so Benji likes to eat salad UPSTAIRS with Goldie DOWNSTAIRS. That was not on the instructions note....

You won't find her ... BL (along with Baxter's person) has gone off to the Beach for 4 days. RG is in charge. "Keep Calm and Carry On" .... what more can we do? Statler and Waldorf ... the two muppets that sit in the side box and trash the performance. Yes - Goldie and Benji have been paying attention.

It's true ... only me to do the breakfasts, tidy and freshen up the outside pens and ferry everybunn out, clean the condos and be sure there is plenty of hay, clean water, pellets, oats, fresh sticks, and treats, ferry everybunn in, give plenty of cuddles and snuggles, and then make and serve salads in the evening. The probability of a successful tour of duty is????? ..................

About that birthday cake ....

No, the many, many candles did not melt all over it. THAT was an exquisite glaze of many tantalizing flavors and textures! The cake began in a bundt pan with lots of ingredients including quite a few white-chocolate chips. When it got dumped out of the pan, quite a bit stayed in, stuck in .. thus the attractive and decorative uneven look. Since I was the designated pan-washer, I ate the stuff still stuck in the pan and enjoyed the white-chocolate chips mixed in .. the whole bit was quite gooey and yummy.

When BL finally served the cake, it was not very gooey and nobody commented on the neato white-chocolate chips in there - in fact BL commented that there did not seem to be ANY. I guess they all had settled to the original bottom of the cake - which got stuck in the pan and thus enjoyed totally by me - as it should have been!!!! W00T!

You guys on the East coast of the US of A where the blizzard rages. Keep Calm and Carry On.

HOW TO BRIGHTEN A LIFE !!!!

It's been more than a week of below freezing - the ground is frozen solid. We got an inch of snow on top of it. Now is coming a warm spell and rain. Every joint and bone aches. The Holiday Season is in full swing ... taking its stressful toll. Two sliced up shoulders still trying to recover. Too much to do, too little time. A rotten economy - touching us on many fronts.

Do you happen to know someone doing something REALLY inspirational? Today I learned that a friend of mine has ridden his bike to and from the bus to his work place (22 miles round trip) on average of 16 days per month this year. It is often windy, cold, drizzle, and dark! He works for the Washington State Department of Ecology and is aiming for the Pat Holm award for the employee who rides the most days AND the most miles in the calendar year! (That is over 4,000 miles a year!)

In other exciting news .... I FINALLY got a reply from the folks who sent Audrey out and around. I guess the person that started it and was supposed to keep their web-info up to date quit and now some other lucky duck has the job. I sent them the complete itinerary of Audrey since we got her last June, including the links to all her stops and adventures. I'll let you know if there is some cool stuff put up on their site about it!

It has gone below 20 degrees at night and not made freezing during the day for the past few. This bunny has "Keep Warm" figured out! Just deliver her meals to the door.

The remote gizmo failed on the old one (who wants to get up and "change the channel" when there are 121 of them?) so we broke down and got one of the genormous flat ones .... but the wiring of components is like the jitterbug - it plumb evades me ....
