It's a long story but I got a special treat of a big scoop of Lopez Island Creamery Wild Blackberry ice cream in a fresh made waffle-cone (see the waffle irons back there?) from the Snow Goose produce stand between Conway and LaConner - some of you may know this place. That is BL's Belgian Chocolate cone back there.

I took some blogs off the list to the right, and I added some. I was sorry to see some go, but there has been no activity for so long, I figure things have gone in another direction. If there are some suggestions of other adds, let me know.

THE SUMMER LIFE ....

Harvested the garlic today - 70 big bulbs! Hang it up to dry for a couple months and then braid. Some fine fall and winter dishes.

As some of you know - BL marches to a slightly different drummer. Here is the catch in one of 4 big traps she and her crabbing friend set and pulled up yesterday. Almost all of them are "keepers" - males at least 6 1/4" across the back of the shell. These are Dungeness - as good as it gets. Since the limit is 5 per person per day, those two ladies did a lot of sorting! I myself am having a lot of good eating!!!

I guess everybunn needs a place to call theirs. They could have left at least PART of the deck for me though.

GOLDIE AND THE FAN ...

It has been quite hot the past three days. Goldie like to sit under the fan!

We were one of the lucky winners of a great hand block carved, inked tiger print from the nice lady at the Qi Papers - she with 4 Bunns. I should give her a cat in return as thanks.

CATS ARE WEIRD ....

That Kitty Boy come over into my private area, he is toast - got that BL??? - Savannah

All in all a tough day for good old RG. I think all the sympathy lies with Kitty Boy and BL. To top it off, I quit my part time job with a local non-profit environmental education group. The Board members liked too much Talk and not enough Do to suit me. Today was a big Thank You party, which was nice. But BL tried to sign me up for night work in the winter digging clams at low tide for our local Shellfish Grower. The gang gave me the sequel to "The Monkey Wrench Gang" by Edward Abbey. Seems like everybody wants me in trouble. I guess they give the HARD work to the BEST people. I'll try to catch up on reading and commenting on blogs tomorrow - I owe some of you BIG TIME!

ANYBODY NEED A CAT?

Grrrr ... this is Kitty Boy, the cat. He "showed up" in the yard several months ago. He is "fixed" and very nice. We don't want an inside cat because it is too hard to keep him and the bunns safe and the extra work of scratch-proofing and litterboxing is not too inviting - not at all.

But - there are several feral cats about - all over this area. They come up and get in fights with Kitty Boy - he has had two V. E. T. trips and has to stay in for 14 days to recover from the latest altercation. He lives in the bathroom for now, for 7 more days yet - not a good long term plan.

My idea is to put no food or water outside, and put Kitty Boy out, after the 7 more days, during the day and let him live in the bathroom all night - hope for the cat-fight best. My other idea is to find Kitty Boy a nice home. BL likes Kitty Boy a lot. He likes to lay on the couch when she reads or sit in the chair with her to watch tv - a nice citizen. If he just didn't have claws, need a litter box, and not eat stinky food - gosh things would be super-de-duper!

She has consulted many authorities and the current best advice comes from the husband of the local county animal control officer. "Go to the Sporting Goods shop and buy a BIG bottle of Cougar Pee. Sprinkle it around the edge of the yard and the other cats will stay out and Kitty Boy will stay in." We will need several bottles, our yard is about an acre that needs the sprinkles around the edge. And what about when it rains?

So - advice? Ideas? Votes? Can I send you a cat? (Could someone at least feel a bit sorry for me??)

Now, if Lucky would just jump up there on the first place podium maybe he would get a big bouquet of carrots ... of course, turning around would be a nice first act (quit mooning the audience, Luck!)

PAH-TEE!!! ...

BL is 39 today! Some friends came over to help her celebrate - many of these friends fit right in with our life style - and they make her laugh. So does Champagne.

For example, this lady rescues rabbits. She got BL started. Her house is ruled by rabbits. Those are her salad servers there - they were not a present. They were just to borrow for the evening. BL said "no presents".
