It's the "Bunny Days" of summer here at the House of Rabbits. We can feel busy September coming, but for now it's enjoy the present!

STILL HERE ...

Racer stops by to look at me in my late-August Chill-Out cage. BL brought me a pizza last night!

TAKE A BREAK .....

It's past half-past August ... the summer season is winding down ... time to chill out here ... so says Chico. Therefore he has locked me in my double-wire pen.

Here is the golden ornamental hops .. it's up a 25 foot pole at the corner of our little old barn.

And, it's a doozy. In front there is a bit of a Bald Cypress tree ... came from the Arbor-day Society several years ago in the mail! Just some teeny seedlings.

Three have lived, even though the Arbor Day folks clearly did not study our climate and tree suitability! They are like a feathery-needled Cedar, but the needles turn brown and all fall off in the winter and it looks like heck until the spring growth again!

IT WAS ELVIS ....

.... Elvis from EyeoftheNeedle ... happy for many reasons ... a great place and family he has there. ... Winston from House of Rabbits ... happy for some privacy!

Finally ... Silver is back to blogging after a long absence (Silver was one of the original Sticky Buns!) ... and Audrey is in Houston now!

THIS came to vist for two days and a night ......

Fortunately THIS (and a brother and some sisters) came along too ....

AND ... THIS wore herself out from a LOT of running around.

Between the color contrast and the way the camera handled it, this looks somewhat like some photoshopping!

You like Fuschias? These guys wintered over - barely - but are coming along pretty well now. They hang UNDER the deck where the bunnies roam, so there is some fine organic fertilizer activity to help their progress.

Of course I'm poofy ... RG brushes me almost every day. He better .....

Meanwhile, back at the cows ....

The first time the pasture owner let cows in there, BL got pretty upset because always before it was beautiful horses and we didn't think there would be any "stinky, fly infested" cows close by.

Before long they broke through the fence and were all over our yard! 10 of them! Dairy cows - black and white.

We did not know who owned them and the pasture owner wasn't home. We herded back what we could and jerry-rigged the fence. BL got on the phone and finally tracked down the cow owners who came over toot sweet and got the other cows in and commenced to fix the fence. About now BL began to give those guys a piece of her mind ... but the older guy said, "Mam, this is farm country and you live where farming is done. Sometimes the smell and flies are unavoidable. Besides, these are female dairy cows just one year old and they are all pregnant. They will have their calves in November and then we will be able to milk them."

BL immediately adopted all the cows and got up every morning and counted to be sure they all were there!

I'M EATING HAY .....

Chico is slowly getting a long strand well nommed and in .... (looks like somebody splattered a big blob of butterscotch over a white bunny.)

Everybody names their pets .. here are Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner ....

OK OK OK ... Just kidding ... jeesh ... can't you take a joke?

There were six of these nice Black Angus cows in the pasture behind our house - since they broke down the fence and wandered off, there are now only four. Hmmmm ... (we call that fourth one Appetizer - OK I'm through.)
