MR. LEISURE ...

Lucky has taken to hanging his one foot over when he gets held for some pettin' on his way back in to his condo for the night. His teeth commence a chittering as soon as he is settled!

He is a Holland Lop with longer, silky hair .. 1/2 of the group known as The Boyz.

BAXTER TAKES HIS BOW !!!

Baxter is here on the podium, humbly accepting his award for a perfect execution of the new Bun-Olympic "Half-Bax" position.

If it is not edible he will be not happy ....





I guess I have passed a milestone in rehabilitation. I can reach the toilet paper dispenser with my repaired arm! I can tuck in a shirt unaided too.

Hopefully, pretty soon, I'll be able to reach the goodies BL has stashed on the top shelves!

HALF-A-BAXTER ....

Time to come in for the evening ... Bax was all stretched out in complete bunny repose! Just as I snapped he pulled that left leg up, getting ready to get up .. I think he heard me.

CAKE'S UP !!!

It was toenail clipping again today .. you think Racer liked it? Even we found the ones hiding in these rear cotton balls!
The bad part is that, for the very first time, I clipped too far down .. one of Chico's rear nails .. got some blood. :<( But, we had the clotting powder and a q-tip right there, and that fixed it pronto and Chico seems fine and happy. Whew.

I WANNA VISIT CHICO ...

Oh sure Princess. Chico does live down that hall in a bedroom, but the door is CLOSED for good reason. If you go in you'll get under the bed and then you'll never come out!

She'll go all the way into that hall to the closed door and then all of a sudden come just TEARING out and do a binky or two. Strange ....

Maybe you recognize the stuff called "sticky paws" stuck up on the edge there. A relic from the time past when we had Bailey, the kitty from H....

SALAD TIME .....

It is about 8:30pm ... salad time! There are three condos in this room, each with two bunnies (Goldie and Benji, Lucky and Winston, and these two.) When BL walks in with the tray full of salads there is great rushing around and clattering of crocks .. each bunn knows right where his/her salad will be placed. Once they are all placed, everything stops except the crunch crunch crunch crunch crunch!

When they are done they start pushing the empty dishes around, looking for strays. Clank, clank, clatter, clatter .... BL picks up the empties, turns down the light, and everyone flakes out!

I know Zoey's floor looks so sparse. But whatever we put on there winds up down the hole!

CHICO AND THE CAKE ....

Once BL gets started, she can't stop! Here is a poppy-seed bundt cake with a swirl of cinnamon and a swirl of Chico. Despite some look-a-like features, Chico could not get away from it fast enough. He absolutely would not stick his nose down by it!!

Bundt Cake Tip: Grease the pan well and then dust thoroughly with powdered sugar. After cake cools for 15-20 minutes, it will slip right out. If not ... drink the Frangelico that was supposed to go into the glaze. BL

Someone asked for a recipe for the previous cake. I'll see if we can post a link on the side bar soon. And, by the way, that hay in the previous post just LOOKS like a bale or so! It is really only wisps on the deck floor ,, optical illusion.

The power went out all over the county at about 7:00pm today for some time. It was a car and a power pole. At first I thought it was that danged Eddison again!

MR. INSIDE AND MS. OUTSIDE ....

Benji has really taken to that box outside lately. These two got a new box in their condo today and really gave it the cold shoulder. But - when salad time came, Benji was being .. ah, ah ... aggressive .. toward Goldy so BL put her salad on the top floor of the condo and Benji's on the bottom. As soon as he dove down to that lower level she pushed that box right over the hole!!!!

IT WAS EDDISON ....

Missed a post - but see, that Eddison on DR the other day .. the collapsing orange dwarf .. Eddison was just 80 miles down the road from us and aimed our way. We had to take cover and unplug all electrical appliances. Savannah stayed put in her Chalet, even though skiing is long over. But we are OK ... close call

Actually we had some company and a late night with them .. BL made this killer chocolate Bundt cake and we had a good time.

Tonight we watched a 2 hour PBS "Front Line" documentary called "Poisoned Waters" about the difficult situations in Chesapeake Bay and Puget Sound. The documentary was only a few snapshots of a huge problem, and perhaps a bit biased, but surely points out a situation needing attention but with no clear solution!

Mr. LUCKY ....

Lucky and Winston share a condo. When it rains and they can't go outside, one gets held by moi and the other cools his heels in the teeny jail while BL cleans and resupplies the bunkers. This day Lucky is indeed Lucky!

April is Earth month .. lots of events and celebrations around. Our big show is this Saturday at the Swinomish Reservation ... work parties, salmon bbq, education booths, kids activities, and native American entertainment. You may remember that last year it snowed!!!! We'll all join hands and dance around in a big circle while the drummers drum and the chanters chant and some old Swinomish song is sung in the native Salish dialect. (no pictures!)

TEENY FEET TRIM TIME ...

No, Savannah is not sitting on a mouse. It's just that some parts of her forgot she is a MINI Rex!

We will get to the nails soon ... it is not fun doing hers... hard to see where the no-no part starts, and she does not have a lot of fur over them so it is tempting to clip too short.

It was the coldest, nastiest fall-winter-early spring here that anyone can remember. We lost a lot of garden plants .. honeysuckles, roses, hydrangeas, clematis, hardy fuchsias .. possibly the grapes. I am leaving them a bit longer to look for some green, but there are going to be a lot of blank spots ... so just to be positive we planted our potatoes - all 100 square feet - today!

She was having a periodic romp through the living room ... an activity she gets from time to time, being as she is a pretty good citizen. That is the family antique - that chair - and there is something on the bottom of that seat she likes!

Maybe it is Abe Lincoln's chewing gum?

There is something in here she likes too ....

I HAVE A HAMMER ....

Here are my exercise sheets and my tools. Excuse the pink towel ... it could have been worse. When I went to see Mr. Twister today he said "Time to start with some weights." He handed me a 1 lb. dumb bell. If you have ever googled "dumb bells" you see that the standard color for the teeny weeny wimpy 1 lb. dumb bell is bright pink! A GIRLY weight! There I was in this room with 3 other guys trying to lift this pink tiny dumb bell. Oh, the shame. Anyway I said "I don't have any dumb bells but I have a hammer" and he said "that is about 1 lb." - so that is my weight!

You are also supposed to use a cane in some of those exercises and I don't have one but I do have an umbrella. Actually everybody in the Pacific North West has an umbrella but we never use them because the rain is too light and unpredictable and it's a pain carrying one around but rarely using it. So that's my other tool.

He did not twist me harder ... he made me do a LOT more harder movements and wave that stupid pink dumb bell around! I hurt. Here is Zoey from the front and still showing her carefully arranged strands. I have no idea why her legs are so short and her top-knot so bright white. She kind of looks like a bad stuffed animal. But she's not ... she's my Zoey, Zoey!

LOOSE ENDS ....

The Z-Bob has all these pieces of long fur that just float off all in their own ways! She's one of those gals who can take 2 minutes primping and look like she spent 5 hours.

I go see Mr. Twister with his new "license to hurt" on Thursday so I'll let you know how that goes. I don't think he has to break up any stuff in there, like scar tissue, etc. It is just some muscles that were pretty much in one position for a long time and need to lengthen and become strong again - by stretching and slowly adding resistance. Just when I think my arm won't go any further in a certain direction, by gosh the next day it does ... maybe just a little, but it does. Like today, I finally could reach out and pull shut the car door! First time!

YADDA YADDA, QUACK, QUACK, QUACK ...

"So then Princess, I says to Goldie - I says -"Goldie? Why don't those people just get a First Rabbit?" Well you know what Goldie says ... you know Goldie thinks she knows everything .. anyway ... where was I .. oh yeah ... about this stimulus ... have you ..."

Benji up on the orator box! The Princess is all ears.

We visited my crack shoulder surgeon today .. 10 weeks since he knifed me. He says I'm doing well .. I can start handling more weight with my arm. "How much weight?" asked Bunny Lady. "Oh, maybe a pound." he says. BL is NOT impressed! He also says he is giving the Physical Therapist, Mister Twister, the green-light to be "more aggressive!" I'm pretty sure that means "ouch."

LUCKY'S DUST RUFFLE ....

I thought Lucky looked a little strange out the window. Sure enough ... he has grown a cookie-duster on his posterior! Kind of tidys up as he goes.

Actually I think he is moulting ... I notice The Princess losing big tufts of hair down there too.

At this place out on the deck today, these Boyz, Baxter and Zoey, and Chico all were sitting and staring off in the same direction .... nothing there I could see. Maybe they all smell something.

A PRETTY GOOD EASTER BUNNY ....

For some reason, Goldie likes to be all stretched out when she gets held. She puts her front paws way up and stretches her big back feet down. She is pretty snuggly that way ... her teeth are purring away a mile-a-minute here!

Hope your Easter Sunday is good, however you do it ... I'll be doing a lot of therapy. We'll have plenty of bunny presence!!

COME ON SPRING!!!

We hope you are enjoying some spring weather. We wish we were ... this is it. We'll take it.

A couple of loose ends ..

1. Our deck is up on the 2nd level of our house .. bunnies are not tempted to jump down 10 or 12 feet. There actally is a fine mesh along the rail .. the kind you put over fruit trees to keep birds out. We put it there when we first moved in ... before bunny # one ... to keep our old beloved cat PJ from being tempted to jump. The bunnies don't even bother to chew on it.

2. Fibre optic cables discovered severed in the South Bay area near San Fran. Do you folks in that area know well where your bunnies were when????

OH YES ... Bunny Lady reminds me that some time ago it was going to be Steve Martin who would play me in the movie.

A NEW UMBRELLA ....

The last one blew to shreds. This one is bigger, stronger, and prettier. It is Savannah's outside pen, but, as you know from some previous pictures, The Boyz spent quite a bit of winter time out here. (Savannah does not much care to be out in the wintry, blustery times.) So now she is being pretty fussy about the smells of intruders! Hasn't hopped up in the pots yet!

I guess I'll have to do the casting for your roles in "Zoey and Me" .. not many suggested their Hollywood doppelganger.

Bunny Lady will be played by Diane Keaton so now I'm planning on asking Woody Allen to play me.

I liked the Donald Sutherland idea, but then we would need Jane Fonda to do BL and .... oh bother ... it's too complicated. Too bad Peter Sellers isn't still alive.

ZOEY AND ME .....

Finally I am able to do a good, safe, HAPPY, job holding Zoey ... and others. In fact, Mr. Twister says I should not be quite so "guarded" now with my arm. Easy for him to say, HE did not have to sleep for 6 weeks with HIS arm in a sling. Not really wanting to go back there!

Bunny Lady watched "Marley and Me" the other night. Quite a few laughs and maybe some tears. Seems like "Zoey and Me" would be Oscar material. Probably ask Harrison Ford to play me.

You all will be in the show too! Who shall we have play you?

WHAT'S THAT BRIGHT YELLOW ????

Oh my gosh, it's sunlight. Like most Pacific Northwesters this time of year, Benji can't remember where he left his sunglasses. It made more than 60 degrees today! First time since last October. We mowed ... and planted lots of veggie seeds! ...

And grilled out! ............

Bunny Lady asked us to say THANKS to all who suggested watermelon for Chico. It's a daily item now for him and he is his old happy, binky self! Chico is real tight with BL.

GOLDIE AND BENJI ....

Here this pair awaits the quarters cleaning and feed restocking. I think they do not try to hop out because there is good hay in there, interesting smells from the last residents, and they know there will be good oats when they get picked out! Clever ... or dumb.

A close-up of The Princess's fur. It is actually a mixture of black and gold. So she appears brown and rather dull from a distance.

Final Four this weekend .. my MSU Spartans are still there!

Oh ... Andrew Bunn is ill .. go over to Andrew and Friends and give him some help!

HURRY UP, BUNNY LADY!

Zoey and Baxter in the little cage while the cleaner tends to their quarters. This was back a couple weeks ago on a rainy day where they couldn't go outside. And all I had was one good arm that could barely manage a camera.

COMING AND GOING ....

Benji and Goldie are almost never in this box when they are outside. Must be something good in there .... maybe there is a movie playing! What would it be?
