Froggy Update!

Here is our boy, looking pretty chubby.  There is a dead fly there - he won't touch it.  I need to get better at just stunning them.  I hope he lasts for another month.  Maybe then he can go outside.

Not big on pix but here I are with youngest daughter - pre-race.  We finished well - no ribbons.  She's too young and I'm too slow.

 "It's Oscar night.  I whip up a gourmet meal for BL to eat in front of the silver screen."  -  RG the Cheffy.

 "These people.  I have to keep an EYE on them all the time."  -  Zoey the Watcher.

"RG IS WEIRD ....

... He is going out in the morning to run in a foot race in the cold, windy, wet weather.  Then he'll get a cup of soup.  Instead he could be on fly-patrol and sit by a warm fire - like moi.  TURN ON THE FIRE, SOMEONE! - Kitty Boy - The Smart.

"Oh KB.  But it is for bragging rights.  My buddies will be there.  It's only 3.1 miles - the annual Smelt Run in LaConner, WA.  Besides, the local running magazine has a column called Best Times.  They show the top five in each age group.  This is the first run of the year that counts so if I finish in the top five of my age group (I will, there won't be that many old guys) maybe I'll get my name in the magazine next month - before all the rest of the big races with fast guys start showing up!" - RG the Tough.

Still on fly-patrol.  Hard to stun them - it's usually a clean miss or a squash beyond repair.  (I use a floppy junk-mail envelope!)  Not sure if Froggy eats them dead or not.  I lay them on the edge of a pot and he comes and goes and now and then one is gone.  But it might have just fallen into the dirt where I can't see it.  I have probably done 4 or 5 this way.  He seems awful perky.  The blood worms were a failure.  BL may be able to trade them in on some little crickets.  We'll see.

This is outside in an area Benji only goes for about an hour when it is raining.  Bunns take turns getting out and staying dry while the cleaners do their inside work!  He loves rummaging in there.

"PRETTY FLOWER, ...

... the morning paper, and The Princess!  Now all I need is a hot cup of ...

 ... HEY!  It's Froggy!  Hold the coffee."  -  RG the Surprised.

"We had not seen Froggy for awhile - feared the worst.  Then yesterday - there he is.  We keep a little cap of water in there but not sure what else to do.  Figure he will catch bugs and things in the plants - hopefully - until it is a bit warmer to go outside.  We have a few house-flies buzzing around this winter.  I "stunned" one today, and put it on the pot edge near Froggy.  WHIZ-GLURP.  Gone fly!  So now I need to hunt down a fly twice a day!  In the meantime, someone told BL he will eat blood worms and to get them in frozen blocks at a pet store.  So, now there are a few of those in a bit of water down in there too - plus a fly I killed and laid on the pot edge.  Froggy is out of sight.  Wonder what tomorrow will bring?"  -  RG the Zoologist.

 This nearby field today - more than 25 bald eagles, hundreds of mallard ducks and trumpeter swans, and thousands of snow geese lifting off.  And just me to photograph it all!
